How to Get to the Golden Outback

Located east of Perth, this is the place for true outback adventure. Driving becomes an activity in itself rather than a means to an end, and camping under the stars is a mystical experience.

Car Travel

Excellent road conditions make getting around easy for those travelling by car. There are also four wheel drive tracks including the Gunbarrel Highway and Canning Stock Route which should only be attempted by experienced four wheel drivers. Hire cars are available from Perth or in all major towns within the region.

Bus and Train Travel

Transwa operate regular coach services to the region, as well as the Prospector train service to Kalgoorlie and the Avonlink train through the Wheatbelt.

Travel by Flight

Regular air services operate to the region from Perth. Skywest Airlines and QANTAS fly to Kalgoorlie. Skywest Airlines flies to Esperance and Skipppers Aviation flies to the towns of Mount Magnet, Meekathara, Laverton, Leonora, Leinster and Wiluna. Charter and scenic flights also operate throughout the region.
