Getting Around Experience Perth

Explore the Experience Perth region by rail, road, air and on water. There are many options to take and it's just up to you to decide!

Travel by Tour

A range of packaged tours are offered from adventurous four wheel drive vehicles to luxury coaches. Join a tour and let someone else do the driving for you so you don't miss a thing. For more information on tours in Western Australia do a tour search.

Car Travel

Experience Perth has an excellent network of roads. All major car hire companies have an office in Perth or at the airport. Road maps and directories are available from most newsagents and some convenience stores.

For more information about hiring a vehicle, do a hire search.

Bus Travel

To travel around the metropolitan area, Transperth buses can take you to all the attractions you will want to see. Buses are available from bus depots conveniently located at numerous points along the train line. It is also very easy to hail a bus at regular sign posted intervals along bus routes by simply raising your hand to attract the bus driver's attention. Small currency amounts (coins) are preferable to use on bus services and change can be given.

Timetables and information for buses are available from Transperth on 13 62 13 or +61 8 9428 1900 for interstate and international callers.

Free City Transport

For city travellers, Perth and Fremantle are serviced by a free shuttle-service known as the Central Area Transit (CAT). The CAT services circulate specific routes every five to fifteen minutes during the day. Weekday timetables are more frequent than weekends.

For more information on the CAT routes, visit Southern Coast Transit website.

Train Travel

You will find a great network of trains which service the Perth metropolitan area from the Perth city. The train lines are:

Armadale

Fremantle

Midland

Joondalup

Mandurah - Proposed

Tickets are available at each station and must be purchased before riding the train. A variety of tickets are available (i.e. Adult, Concession, Child, Senior, Family) and are valid to be used on all Transperth services including buses and ferries. The distance you plan to travel will also determine how many 'zones' you need to purchase with your ticket. Zone maps are found at all train stations to help identify what ticket you will need to purchase.

Timetables and information for trains are available from Transperth on 13 62 13 or +61 8 9428 1900 for interstate and international callers.

Ferry Travel

Ferry services cross sections of the Swan River from Perth Barrack Street Jetty across to South Perth and down stream to Fremantle.

Regular high-speed ferries also travel from Perth Barrack Street Jetty, Fremantle and Hillarys to Rottnest Island.

Timetables and information for ferries are available from Transperth on 13 62 13 or +61 8 9428 1900 for interstate and international callers.
